Framed Gulf coast Toad Art, Incilius valliceps mounted watercolor
Part of the Lil Critters Under Glass series 2019. Gulf Coast Toad (Incilius valliceps)
I talk often about our pond we installed 5 years ago. Since the first season we had these little friends come visit us and the habitat we built. The very first brood of eyes were so precious to us; as we watched them transform from tadpole to toadlet we were transfixed! Now every year we see dozens of them making more toads in the late spring to early autumn. Their chorus sings us to sleep most of the summer so well that we have trouble sleeping with their absence. I’m sure most people from the gulf coast area have seen their fair share of toads. I love hearing the stories people have about such a tiny little critter.
Watercolor painting of "specimen", signed prints available in limited supply.
Each painting/print is designed to provide a death-free alternative to having your favorite insects on your wall.
Bugs-Under-Glass Series
I had planned on buying a leaf insect, a few random beetles, spiders, and assorted bugs. I just had to wait until the next paycheck to buy the leaf insect. While those two weeks passed I would see the mounted insects on the wall and “squeee” with delight. But then, I started to think about this little creature was in fact a living thing that someone had to kill to mount for me. Granted the life of an insect is not one for the history books, generally…but alas…I started getting the “guilties”.
So I came up with the “brilliant” idea of painting my own little insects. This way it would save a life, and I could enjoy specimens without guilt. Thus, my Bugs-Under-Glass Series began.
Please note:
Print Only option will only include the print, no mat, nor frame.
